Have you noticed any work or construction by BC Hydro lately? Starting in mid-September through until midOctober 2015, BC Hydro be working in the territory as part of their Transmission Civil Protection Program. The purpose of the program is to protect transmission towers with various civil works, where towers require additional protection or reinforcement, such as those located on steep slopes or at risk due to erosion.
The program has identified erosion and damage to transmission line (3L002) and towers (49/6, 49/7 & 49/8) as a result of a rain storm in early January 2015. The worksite is located near Sloquet Creek (Port Douglas). It has been identified that there is significant bank erosion, and that several structures are at risk. The work requires instream riprap to armor the shoreline against erosion. This is required as soon as possible.
